Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This policy covers nivoapps.com and the Nivoapps products linked from it: JSON Editor Pro (jsoneditor.nivoapps.com) and Voyager (app.voyager.nivoapps.com and its subdomains). It describes what we actually collect today — we've written it to match the real behavior of each product rather than a generic template.
Information we collect
This site (nivoapps.com): our web server logs standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and reliability, the same way most web servers do. We don't run any account system or form on this site itself.
JSON Editor Pro: the editor runs entirely in your browser. Your JSON documents are processed and stored locally (via your browser's IndexedDB) and are never transmitted to our servers. If you choose to submit in-app feedback (a bug report, suggestion, or question), that submission — its type, message, and an email address only if you provide one — is sent to our feedback service and stored so we can act on it.
Voyager: Voyager is local-first — your workspaces, collections, requests, environments, and history are stored on your own device by default and are not sent to us. Signing in is optional. If you create an account, we store what's needed to run it: your name and email address, a password hash (if you sign up with a password) or your Google account identifier (if you use Sign in with Google), and the workspaces, collections, folders, requests, and environments — including environment variable values — that you choose to sync.
Voyager sharing and teams: if you share a workspace or collection, invite someone, or join a team, the people you collaborate with can see your name and email address, and we store the shares, invitations, team memberships, activity-feed entries, and in-app notifications needed to make that work. Values you mark as secret in a shared environment are hidden from the people you share it with. When inviting collaborators, other signed-in users can find your account by typing the beginning of your email address. If you choose to leave a message on Voyager's public supporter wall, the display name and message you enter are shown publicly until you delete them.
Voyager's relay (signed-in web app only): browsers can't open FTP, SFTP, SMTP, TCP, or UDP connections, and some APIs block requests made from a browser (CORS). When you're signed in, Voyager's web app can send those requests through our server instead. The request — its destination, headers, credentials, and body — passes through our server to the destination you chose, and the response passes back to you. We process it only to deliver the request: its contents and the response are not stored or logged. Our web server logs only the standard metadata of the call to the relay itself (IP address, timestamp, endpoint, user agent), the same as any other request. Whenever the browser allows a request, the web app sends it directly instead, and the VS Code extension always connects directly and never uses the relay.
Cookies and local storage
JSON Editor Pro and Voyager both use browser local storage (including IndexedDB) to save your work locally on your device — this is functional storage, not tracking, and it never leaves your browser unless you explicitly export or sync it (or send a request through Voyager's relay, as described above). As of this policy's last update, nivoapps.com itself does not set cookies.
Analytics
As of this policy's last update, nivoapps.com does not use any analytics service. If that changes, this section will be updated to name the specific service and what it collects before it's enabled.
Advertising and Google AdSense
nivoapps.com and its subdomains are enrolled with Google AdSense and may display ads. When ads are active, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more about Google's advertising practices and manage your ad personalization settings at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Ad serving is independent of the products themselves — JSON Editor Pro and Voyager's core functionality does not depend on ads being shown.
Third-party services
- Google AdSense — advertising, as described above.
- Google Search Console — site ownership verification and search performance monitoring; no personal visitor data is shared with us through this.
- Google Sign-In (Voyager, optional) — if you choose Sign in with Google, Google authenticates you and shares your name, email address, and Google account identifier with Voyager. Google's handling of that sign-in is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
JSON Editor Pro's feedback service and Voyager's backend both run on infrastructure we operate ourselves — they are not handed off to a third-party data processor.
Data retention
Feedback submissions (JSON Editor Pro) and account data (Voyager, only if you opt in to sign in — including synced, shared, and team data) are retained for as long as needed to act on them or provide the service, and are deleted on request — see Your rights below. Locally-stored data (your JSON documents, Voyager collections) stays on your device under your control; clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app removes it.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you (such as a feedback submission or a Voyager account) by emailing info@nivoapps.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we'll honor applicable requests to the extent required.
Children's privacy
Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, and update the "Last updated" date above accordingly.
